David P. Brown is a decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, with eight years of continuous and honorable service to America. He began serving the citizens of New Mexico as a Deputy Sheriff with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department in October of 1986. He subsequently retired from the agency in April of 2007, with numerous commendations.

As Deputy Sheriff, David P. Brown had extensive experience as a homicide, violent crimes, sex crimes, white-collar crimes detective, and narcotics agent. He is a published contributor and subject matter expert in the University of New Mexico sponsored Para Los Ninos and the Child Fatality Review Team violent crime and sociological research projects.

David is classified by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Advanced Training Bureau as a subject matter expert in 21 categories of law enforcement. He is a certified instructor in both ground control defensive tactics through the Department of Energy, and defensive tactics through the New Mexico Department of Corrections. He is certified as a law enforcement firearms instructor with the NRA and the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Advanced Training Academy as well as a concealed carry instructor certified with DPS.

After retirement, he continued to serve New Mexico as a Probation Parole Officer (PPO) assigned to the Security Threat Intelligence Unit (STIU) Fugitive Apprehension Team District II, from June 2007 until November 2009.  As an STIU officer he also functioned as liaison for a four county area. As a PPO, he taught defensive tactics, officer survival, and verbal diplomacy at the NM Department of Corrections Academy.

After Probation Parole, he worked for the citizens of Edgewood, New Mexico, as a commissioned police officer. David fully retired his law enforcement commission in December 2011 to embark upon the next phase of his career as a full-time NM Regulations and Licensing Private Investigations Licensing Board certified trainer and martial arts instructor.

David P. Brown has training in the martial arts since the age of 12. Sifu Brown holds the rank of 8th degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo. He fought armature full contact karate from 1974 to 1979. He also holds a 1st degree black belt in Tang Soo Do through the Moo Duk Kwan Federation. Sifu Brown has studied Yang style Tai Chi Ch’uan since 1973 and Chen style since 1982. He is the founder of Si Fung Wu Gung Fu, which he formalized in 1992.

David P. Brown founded the Four Winds Martial Arts Academy in 1992. The academy is located at 1427 Carlisle NE, Albuquerque, NM. He is also the owner and Special Projects Manager of Triad Defense Security Training Solutions LLC, through which he provides firearms training for individuals and corporations, as well as certifications for Levels 1, 2 and 3 security officers throughout the State of New Mexico.
